It’s time to share my recent music finds.
But first, if you buy your tunes on iTunes, consider snagging a (Product) Red gift card. You can order them online or pick one up at an Apple store. It’s $25 to spent at the iTunes store and 10% goes to the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS.
On to the music.
- Neon Bible by Arcade Fire – Went out today with Lexi specifically to snatch this one up.
- Not Too Late by Norah Jones – This is the kind of CD I play all the way through and just enjoy as background music. I couldn’t tell you which individual songs are download-worthy.
- “Smile” and “LDN” by Lily Allen – The UK girly pop isn’t exactly my staple, but I heard “LDN” on the Current and a $7.99 price at Best Buy was too much to resist.
- “Razor” by the Foo Fighters, “These 3 Sins” by Gomez, “What if You” by Joshua Radin and “There Goes the Fear” by the Doves from the Catch and Release soundtrack. Meh for the movie, thumbs up on the soundtrack (it also has Death Cab’s “Soul Meets Body”, but I discovered that one a long time ago)
- Catch the Moon by Elizabeth Mitchell and Lisa Loeb – Lovely children’s music that doesn’t grate on you.
- Hello Love by the Be Good Tanyas – More full-album background music. Though I can recommend “Human Thing” and their cover of “When Doves Cry”.
- Bruce Springsteen’s We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions is worth checking out, but “O Mary Don’t You Weep” is one of the best.
- Infinity on High by Fall Out Boy – I’m still picking my favs.
- “Phantom Punch” by Sondre Lirche – I bought this song strictly because of the guitar.
- And then I was tipped off to three groups and nabbed all three albums today, mainly because they were only $5.99 each. Who needs ala carte when it’s that cheap. Those finds were Centuries Before Love and War by Stars of Track and Field, Into the West by Pilot Speed and Loss of Signal by Borne. Ryan Hartsock did the tipping off, though I already had my eye on the Coldplay-esque Borne thanks to the free download of the week.
And if it feels like I go on musical benders around here, that’s because I do. Whenever I have Christmas or birthday money burning a hole in my pocket I usually end up purchasing music in one form or another.
