In the past 48 hours I’ve heard the word “schadenfreude” used three different times: CMS blogger Andy Havens, philosopher Tim Yenter and the Microsoft-taunting Josh Lewis.
The German word means taking delight in the misfortune of others, and as Havens said, is best translated in the “Ha-ha!” delivered by Simpsons character Nelson Muntz. That’s your vocab lesson for the day.
Well, if you’d like a song to go with that vocab, check this little ditty out (iTunes required, of course). I can’t quite recommend the rest of the album… but it’s on topic!
