The New Bodice-Rippers Have More God and Less Sex

The New York Times on the rise of Christian chick-lit, predictably a few years behind the mainstream.

But apparently it’s not the author’s fault: one writer penned a church-friendly chick-lit novel four years ago but her agent couldn’t sell it. Now with chick-lit a mainstream phenomenon, the book was an easy sell.

  1. Wait… how is this different from all the Bodie Thones that occupied scads of shelf space at every Christian bookstore I’ve ever seen since jr. high? Chick lit was it for Christian fiction for years, other than Lewis and a few unknowns. Yancey made a bit of a splash, but you still see mostly chick lit or ‘entertainment light’ reading.
