Christianity on Primetime

July 27th, 2005 Posted in God, Church & Stuff

CNN’s 360 Degrees with Anderson Cooper featured T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and Jerry Jenkins on its show a couple nights ago in four separate stories about religion. Too bad the coverage was a mile wide and an inch deep.

I peeped the transcript, and agree with you that it was terrible shallow. One question I had, though:

Jakes states that “the issue for us is to make sure that we’re not discriminated against because we have Christian values.” So let me get this straight, because maybe I’m reading it wrong: in context, it sounds like he’s playing the I’m-a-Christian-being-discriminated-against card if Christians aren’t a target of corporate marketing?

I guess I don’t really want corporations targeting me based on my faith.
