Hello, My Name is KEVIN

January 18th, 2005 Posted in Just for Fun

Because Jordon Cooper did it and it seemed like a cool idea, who are you?

Answer the following questions in the comment section so I can pretend like I know you.

Age:

Why do you read this blog?
What do you like about this blog?
What do you dislike about this blog?
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do?
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me?

(questions blatantly stolen from Jordon Cooper)

    Profession: Writer/Editor/Blogger/Slacker

    Location: Saint Paul, Minni-soh-ta

Why do you read this blog? I don’t, I just write it.

What do you like about this blog? Me, me, me. (actually it gives me a forum to talk about stuff. I like that.)

What do you dislike about this blog? Comment spam. And the lack of a book deal (so far).

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? That’s a tough one. I’d say Star Wars for sentimental reasons (original trilogy only folks), though I think LOTR has a much better story.

If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Swear: Crap, boobs, crap!

If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Patrick Wharburton or Elijah Wood (I have no idea, I just thought the question was funny–and the responses potentially funnier)

    Profession: Toddler Teacher/Grad Student/Dog Trainer/Vice-President of MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com

Why do you read it Question: He’s my husband – it would be mean not to read it.

    Like Question: Kevin

Dislike Question: Being forced to read it and make comments

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings Question: Lord of the Rings. Storm troopers give me nightmares.

Take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com Question: Go to work in my pajamas. No wait – I’d use the laptop and work from bed in my pajamas.

TV Movie Question: The kid who played Sam Weir on Freaks and Geeks

    Name: Jeremy Keillor
    Age: 25
    Profession: Proofreader/Copyeditor/Minor Computer Guru
    Location: Seattle, WA
Why do you read this blog?

I guess cause Kevin was a roomate for a while.
What do you like about this blog?
I like the recent string of Seattle-related posts.
What do you dislike about this blog?
Dislike the lack of bright colors. But then, I’d prolly dislike the colors if they were used.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
Movies or books? Actually, now I think about it, it doesn’t matter, LotR all the way.
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do?
Prolly nothing, day of silence. Seems my style.
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me?
Johnny Depp, just cause there’s prolly not that much dramatic tension involved in running MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com so you need someone like Depp to play the role with panache so everyone thinks something big’s about to happen.

    Name & Age
    Steph, age 26
    Profession
    Art Teacher & Artist
    Location
    Cupertino, CA
Why do you read this blog?
Kevin is my friend. Keeps me connected.
What do you like about this blog?
Hearing the going-ons and ramblings of Kevin & Minnesnowta life.
What do you dislike about this blog?
The sidebar. Oh, and I want to click on the pics on the top to see larger versions and I can’t.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
I generally like movies with good acting. So…NOT Star Wars. LOTR is sweet.
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do?
Go roller skating cuz I hear they do that there. I’d also mess with the look of the site because it’s fun. Maybe make it pink. Heh heh.
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me?
Do you mean “me” as in me, Steph? Or “me” as in you, Kevin? Hmmmm…. Me, Steph should be played by Reese Witherspoon or some similar spunky blonde chick. Kevin should be played by either Todd Louiso or Leonardo DiCaprio.

  6. By Chris Well on Jan 19, 2005

    Name: Chris Well
Age: Wouldn’t you like to know
    Profession: Magazine Editor, part-time novelist
    Location: Nashville, TN
Why do you read this blog? I came because Kevin emailed me; I stayed for the nachos.
What do you like about this blog? Anyone who names a company after a line from “The Tick” is AWESOME.
What do you dislike about this blog? No beverages.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Sure, I’ll take some of each.
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Probably talk about myself. (So, business as usual.)
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me?
Kevin: I’m gonna have to go with one of the Baldwin brothers.
Myself: Is Lee Majors still acting?

  7. By kevin on Jan 19, 2005

Yes, Steph, that’s a good question–do I mean who should play you or who should play me? Let’s go with both and not be quite so me-centric (me as in Kevin). Frankly, I think Johnny Depp would make a better Jeremy than he would me. And I love Abby’s suggestion of Sam Weir from Freaks and Geeks. That’s almost too good.

And Chris, I’ll work on that beverage dispenser. Those pesky teenagers were abusing the free refill policy so I had to cut back.

And back to Steph on the art comment, I wish you could click on each picture at the top to see a larger version. But alas, I didn’t ask Josh to code it that way and probably don’t have enough high quality larger versions that I’d want to share. That was part of the reason for the small pics–too often I get pictures that just aren’t large enough after I crop down to what I want.

    Age: 29

Profession: “IT Administrator” (cuz “Resident Computer Geek” doesn’t have a pay scale attached to it)

Location: Chanhassen, MN, in our loft/office

Why do you read this blog? My wife Jaime met Kevin at an EPA conference, then told me about him and how he named his company after a Tick reference. So I guess I came for the Tick, and stayed because you have an interesting blog (and you update frequently).

What do you like about this blog? Good writing, interesting topics, now with no MSG!

What do you dislike about this blog? Kevin inspires blog envy, actually kinda miss the MSG…

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Difficult question that is. I guess LotR by the slimmest of margins, but I reserve the right to change my mind if Peter Jackson makes crappy LotR prequels 20 years from now.

If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Secretly replace Kevin’s coffee with Folger’s crystals.

If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? I’m thinking Patrick Swayze would play both of us, and it’d be an unoffical sequel to Roadhouse. I don’t know why.

  9. By Neal on Jan 19, 2005

    Name: Neal
    Age: 26! (woohoo!)
Profession: Teacher and dabbler in the arts
What do you like about this blog?: Keeping tabs on the latest internet gossip.
What do you dislike about this blog? For awhile now, it has become informational, and lost the personal and epiphanal feeling that it once had. I dislike that one has replaced the other, instead keeping bits of both.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Lord of the Rings: Star Wars emulates its mentor, but never surpasses. Movies only, LOTR outdirects, acts, presents, etc. Star Wars in almost every aspect.
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? I would transform it into a spam central that would preface each bit of spam with a video of an irate monkey jumping at you while screaming, “Monkey Out of Nowhere!”
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Kramer, to keep in tradition with the idea that characters based on real people should be nothing like them.

    Name: Kerry Hendricks
    Age: 54

Profession: Retired Engineer, Ford Motor Co; model builder, pigeon fancier, car/truck builder, hunter, amateur photographer, volunteer

    Location: Great Bend, KANSAS!!

Why do you read this blog? My son writes it. Expanding my vocabulary (epiphanal? Neal, you’re a wild and crazy guy!)

What do you like about this blog? My son writes it. Located in Minni-SOH-ta.

What do you dislike about this blog? Not enough updates from Speak. I was on the edge of my seat during the “Attack of the Earwigs”.

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Star Wars, original triology. I’m 54 so I grew up with Westerns, WWII movies, Robin Hood, Superman, etc, etc, so I can relate with George. And I haven’t seen all of the LOTR movies… (I know, I know, but hey, I have an excuse. Check my age, I’m on the verge of senior citizendom)

If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? I would throw the entire support, influence, and resources of MONW squarely and unequivocally behind President Bush.

If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Kevin: Matt Damon Kevin’s Dad: Mel Gibson. I envision a Robert Ludlum/James Bond/Tick episode combination.

I know this is late. I’ve been busy. :-)

    Name: Joshua Gordon Lewis!

Age: 26.485603932 years old. Give or take.

Profession: Engineering Program Manager for Apple, and Web Developer for myself and others.

    Location: Cupertino, CA

Why do you read this blog? Because I like Kevin. He’s a man of action, incredibly creative, and eager to break every mold he can get his hands on, and I really respect that. Except when he gets all Liberal on me. ;-)

What do you like about this blog? The fact that Kevin speaks his mind. The fact that Kevin writes it and it keeps me connected to him. The discussions that happen when Kevin writes.

What do you dislike about this blog? I already mentioned the Liberalness, no? The design seems a little blocky and doesn’t have much color. Sometimes the ads throw me a little, but I understand their purpose.

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Yes. But really, LoTR is better in every aspect, no doubt about it.

If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Redesign it, make it beautiful and dynamic, and do something to it that would make Kevin very happy when he saw it. I’m not sure what exactly, but I would.

If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Kevin should be played by Kermit the Frog. Josh should be played by Statler or Waldorf since I’m always coming on here, heckling Kevin’s ideas.

    Name: Steve Knight
    Age: 29
    Profession: Internet Editor
Location: Charlotte, NC (a.k.a. The Promised Land)
Why do you read this blog? Because I like Kevin.
What do you like about this blog? The text. And the graphics.
What do you dislike about this blog? Very little at the moment.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Hmmm, not huge fans of either really. I’ll take “Napolean Dynamite” over both any day. I’m shallow that way.
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Redirect it to knightopia.com ;-)
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Steve Buscemi as Kevin. Stephen Baldwin as Me. (Only actors named Steve should be allowed to act in the movie.)

OK there you go, Kevin! I hadn’t even seen this post until now! But I did seem Pomomusings post last August, followed by Messy Christian’s post just recently. So you and Jordon snuck in there sometime when I wasn’t looking. Sorry I failed to acknowledge you both. Consider yourselves acknowledged.

    Location: Chan
Why do you read this blog? I came for the Speak, stayed for the pie.
What do you like about this blog? It’s updated a lot. It’s got good stuff. Speak rocks.
What do you dislike about this blog? It’s not lime green.
Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? LoTR
If you could take over MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com for a day what would you do? Turn it lime green. Not for any particular reason…. I just like lime green.
If a TV movie based on MonkeyOuttaNowhere.com was ever made, who should play me? Definately Julia Roberts.

  14. By Josh on Jan 29, 2005

If you like lime green, you should totally check out my site! It’s maybe a little darker than “lime” but it’s close.
